How goes it all. If anyone remembers me, I left for the Marines about 9 Months ago, and have been pretty busy now getting ready for deployment. Being that I live in barricks now about 500 miles from home, I don't really ever get a chance to play in a shop, and it's been about a year and a half since I've touched a welder. Anyway, friday I went to the hobby shop to get my window in my car fixed. I've seen the little weld shop they have in there that you can pay to use but never did get a chance to.. I was bored, and got the 'itch' again(to weld...not for any other reason :p). So after working on the car, I went and asked about playing in there. The guy was real skeptical because he's never seen me work in there. By the end of the day, I had made up a little candle/picture holder for the girlfriend. I took 3/16"x1.5 flatstock, and rounded it for the base. Made up a heart out of some round stock and filled the middle of it with some expanded mesh going sideways and vertically. Then twisted some two peices of roundstock to hold the heart up. A candle will go on each side, of the heart with a picture going in the middle.

The guy's there ended up not even charging me. I was kinda shaky at first and a little lost since it's been a while but it's turning out pretty good. Just gotta finish the paint and I'll post up some pictures!

So how's everyone else been? Tell me the likes of Hank and them are still hangin around.

Hah thanks guys, good to see ya here still guys.

I managed to use a friends phone to snap a picture of it's current state. The roundstock on the heart is going to be silver, as well as the little twisty upright thinger ma bobber. A picture of me and her will be in the heart, vanilla candles will be there on the sides, and then a fake rose or two laying across the middle...

So..."Jody" didn't get your girl, while you were away?? Cool...now you were over there, fightin for our country, and ya come back here and go all soft on us...what's up with that? :D Must be quite a gal that can do that! :D

Haha she's somethin else. However, I think your a bit mistaken on my whereabouts. I'm getting ready now for deployment in september, but have been away doing all my training. I've been in the fleet now for about 4 months now...

MadMax, are you with a Marine Expedition Unit that has been training the last few weeks in Indiana and station at Camp Lejune. I think that same unit that my son is the ammo tect. He shipped out in Sept.

No sir..I guess he's on the 24 MEU? I tried getting on the 26 MEU but am just going as a deployer. I'm an 0311 rifleman(grunt) but am in an Intel unit doing some reconaissance/surveillance, (not the badass recon stuff though :()
