hey guys, i have this welder that i got from a friend. its a 220V, 295 amp arc welder. he said that it works but i never tried it because i dont have an outlet for it, but i checked the transformers on it and they seem good so it should work. anyway my question is does anybody know what it roughly costs? i have searched all over and cant seem to find anything on it, and i dont know who its made by. if anybody has any info that wold be great. thank-http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/F22SIDEWINDER/welder.jpg

Average AC-only buzzbox transformer welders sell used for $50 - $150 all day long. Not being able to even put a name brand with that unit, I'd place it on the $50 end of the range.

Since it's almost 300 amps, it should go for $200 to $250...name shouldn't be an issue...just look at how the Chi-com stuff sells...this looks USA made.

Go to www.google.com/patents and try searching on some patent numbers from the front of that unit. It might tell you a little bit about the origin.

Forney unit or a Montgomery Wards??? Like the Rock says, who really cares who made the thing. Those monsters are practically bulletproof. Will run all day long and never skip a beat. Just can't wear them out. Bet the transformer/transformers inside are all copper wound bad boys and it weighs a ton right?

This kid or 54 remembers collecting "Hoppy Points" off milk carton flaps to get a pair of genuine plastic ivory handled pot metal six shooter cap pistols and quick draw holsters just like Hoppy's. Wore 'em proudly while riding the range on my stick horse.

I actually met Hoppalong Cassidy, and got to talk with him when I was a kid, and this was in the 1940's. he was a "personality" at a Rodeo in Erie, pa., I jumped the arena fence, and walked right up to where he was seated, and he was quite friendly and gracious. He told the cops that came to roust me that it was alright, and gave me an aluminum "hoppy" coin. I felt "pretty important". All I can remember of the conversation is I asked him if he could beat up Gene Autry...:)
