Actually, it's the fence that borders King Metals in Dallas.

It's using 3/4 sq tube, passing thru 2x1x1/8 punched channel.

But I can't see or even feel any welds securing the tube to the holes in the channel...but it's still tight, no play in it.

I don't know if they used epoxy instead of welds or what...when I look at the tube in the hole in the channel, it almost looks like a small wedge was used to tight fit the tube but this isn't possible as it is a large fence that has hundreds of these holes. Maybe this is residue from epoxy or something.

The tubes don't rest on a bottom rail..however it was done, the tube is held thru 3 rails of punched channel.

Any ideas how this is done without welds? Zrexxer...I'm sure you've seen it.

thx
Ed

sounds like they used a strippit to cut the holes, and a roll-forming press to crimp it tight.(they also could've expanded the 3/4 from the inside with a slug & wedge bolt.)

Zrexxer...I'm sure you've seen it.Actually, I've never been there! All my dealings with them has been phone orders that shipped UPS. I'd love to make it by there sometime.

I'll bet these are Ameristar (http://www.ameristarfence.com/) panels. They come pre-packaged and have a long rod, about .125" going through holes in the pickets to secure them through a channel to the cross rails. We deal in a fair amount of this, really time consuming fabbing up the custom gates to match.
The pickets have a rubber or plastic grommet surrounding them to keep them snug.

That must be what it is...bottom line, not something I'll be doing I guess.
