Why would you do that when the tools are likely more valuable than the machine?

I agree...any shop worth a crap will have most of these tools.
Unless all you're gonna do is make stuff and not much fixing.

Ok, again.

Heck, I might buy a machine to trade in this case,,, I am not sure how much I would have listened when I started and didn't have the huge asset that this forum is, I really didn't mentor up on welding but here goes. Welding shop is a good idea and a lot can be done. Keep it simple and cheap going in. You could do most of the work you might do with an AC buzz box although DC is preferred and these days a Maxstar 150 would be my choice for a young feller starting out allowing for cheap operation and portable. Between that and a small feeder you can do 95% of the work you could possibly do (or should do) especially at this stage of the game, it just plain isn't worth the effort for a sprout to fool around with all the garbage and weight of a portable setup, engine drive, the cost, it would have to be a serious need/business idea anymore.
Its easy to get a lot of money quickly in machines you really got no use for and they sit idle, like the man JT said, if its sitting in the drive its just expensive yard art. Over 30 yrs later I got 2 many machines and still find it hard to get a surplus of common hand tools which are the bread and butter of this industry. 95% of the worlds work is done with hand tools. You need simple machines until you find out where the game is. Cheap should be the thought, start with a buzz box if you got to.

Yeah, I have to agree with Cary here, don't go loading up on a bunch of stuff you don't need just yet. Have you tried Craig's list in your area or even beyond? There are welders out there constantly cause people need green and they need it now. Welders that have been gathering dust in a corner are suddenly the thing they can part with fast. You can pick up a buzz box for $45 to $200 and get one that looks and welds like new. You can pick up a used fluxcore only machine for a little more or less. Make some spark and smoke with some inexpensive machines and make some money with them first before investing in a ton of stuff. Lot of guys started "office" type businesses and such in the 80s and 90s and bought top of the line office equipment and furniture only to find themselves out on the street 6 months later. "If you can fix it, they will come," and you'll be making money. No offense meant, but why don't you post more on what you want to do overall (no we're not looking to steal your business plans), and get some more input from the guys on here. There is a wealth of info from most of the regular posters here that you would pay top dollar for if you had to go out and solicit it. If you're still serious about trading thousands in tools for a welder, I'll go to TSC, buy a HH210 (new not reconditioned), drive it up to where you are and trade it to you for all those tools, which I'll then use, or sell on E-bay and come out way ahead. Good luck though,
