There is an individual, locally, selling a Dynasty DX with a spool gun setup. Now I have never considered a DX because of the price but he has it priced within my budget. The problem is I have been searching for more than an hour and find absolutely nothing that indicates that a spool gun will even work with a DX. Any info the forum can lend would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Impossible to control the stickout when connected to any CC machine, you'd always be burning back into the tip. So no, a spoolgun cannot be connected to a dynasty, nor any CC only machine. You would need a voltage sensing device brefore a spoolgun can be connected to it, even then it would be difficult but not impossible to start a weld with.

Check with the seller. Is he talking spoolgun, or is it really a voltage-sensing wire feeder?

Thanks for all of the quick responses. I'm going go take a look at what he has and got. Here is a pic of the spool gun.

Thats an ESAB (Prince/MK products) spoolgun and it appears to be set up for an ESAB 250 mig machine

Nope MK made that one, identical to the Lincoln Prince, simular to the Magnum. Lots of warrantees on this lineup of junk.

Have not been able to contact the seller as of yet. I just did not understand how he could have made this step up work and if it could have possibly done some damage to the DX.

Well, without a controller & a place to plug the controller into which the dynasty doesn't have, nor has any amphenol power to run anything other than a remote, I suggest that he has a spoolgun, but thats about it.

That gun was (and still is) made by Systematics in PA. It was rebadged and sold by Hobart and Thermal Arc, and still is by Lincoln, (Magnum SG), ESAB and I believe Snap On. Systematics current model # is MHG8. It requires a control box which depends on which manufacturer it was sold by, (unless you are creative enough to modify one by any manufacturer), and as stated earlier, will not work on a constant current machine such as the Dynasty. Either the guy is trying to sell something he bought, and then found out he couldnt use. Or, he is trying to sweeten the deal with something he doesn't need. If the price is right, buy the package and put the spool gun on Ebay, or sell it in here in the "for sale" section. You should be able to get at least a couple hundred bucks for it. Good luck. ---Mike---

mwoh419 had it right. I have the Thermal-arc pull gun setup with controller and different prince guns. Not one part would interchange between the two.
I believe you could get about $400.00 on ebay
