Hi guys, I have a question I need some help on.

I bought an SA-200 already equipped with a electronic ignition. I don't know when it was put on, but here's the dilemma.

Starting it up I have no problem, but while shutting it down isn't a pain, it is harder than I think it should be. The Pull-to-Stop switch isn't wired up, and I have to kill it by closing the fuel supply valve and letting it just die off.

I tried several different wiring methods today, as I don't have a good diagram to go off of, but didn't get any closer to a solution. I know this was risky, seeing as I could've sent current somewhere it didn't need to go, but the machine still ran fine, and in the end I left it as it was when I started.

My wire tracing left me with the following guess, that the electronic ignition should also kill the machine when I turn it off. Is this a good assumption?

Any help on this would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Pull to stop switch? On a SA 200 ? Is this a diesel ? Need more information . Can you determine what engine you have and any labels on the ignition parts. Perhaps a picture would help.

If it has had a alternator put on it to replace the old generator. Make sure you have turned everything off and if it is still running unplug the wires going to the alternator and see if it kills the engine. If this kills the engine you will need to do some rewiring to prevent the feed back of the alternator when turned off.

if it has a electronic ignition then its a gas, diesels run off compression & to kill them u shut off the fuel.I have a 1973 SA200, with continental ,still mag, just replace pull switch with toggle , thats what mines got, works fine.
