Hello- long time lurker here. I've posted a few birds I've made in the past. Since I take so much away from this site, I thought I'd share some. I got caught up this winter making birds. These are a few. They're all made from stock items (baskets, stamped leaves) rebar, round bar, and a few found objects- Heads are bed leg parts, eyebrows/lashes of various sprockets, and nuts, of course. The bird that has wings folded back was made with parts of a motorcycle exhaust that was being thrown away. I masked the chrome and blasted wing patterns into it. And glass eyes from the craft store. While I try to keep them all metal, I find that glass eyes add more than they detract.

I'm trying to fuss less and weld more, but have a difficult time resisting the impulse to add metal and grind away.

Thanks all, I appreciate the appreciation. Now that we're full into the landscaping season (I'm a landscape architect) I have little time for anything else, and my greatest desire to spend time in the shop. If only a career could be made out of metal animals that would pay to send my kids to school.
