Hi everyone,
I live in south Salem, OR. Main hobby is ghost town exploring and Jeeping. After all these years of bolting things together I've finally tired of it and decided do things different, or at least have an alternative with welding. It seems like I'm always repairing or creating some kind of project/junk. I enjoy it though.

Welcome to the forum,
Sounds like you'll fit in just fine here. Noobs often get ripped on a bit for not searching before they ask a real simple question. There are two search lines listed above. One is the Hobart "SITE SEARCH" The other is the forum "Search" with a little arrow pointing down. If you want to look up threads on say, a Harbor Freight auto darkening helmet, go to the forum search site and type in Harbor Freight auto darkening helmet. You'll find tons of info that way and won't piss people off right away. However, if you're doing something exotic like welding up a 1930s Baldwin locomotive boiler, you're pretty safe asking that question outright about how you'd do it the best way. Anyway, lots here are dedicated to helping out and lots of guys have a ton of expert knowledge to share, so enjoy.

I remember the days of bolting everything together. came up with some pretty strange arrangements of bolts.

Thanks arcackle. Sometimes I guess we have to do with what we have. I'm not knocking the past though as some of the widgets, dohickys or whatever they're called fit the bill quite well over the last 30 years, be it a custom piece or just to save the $$.
