Hello...

I have a 24" x 24" x 3/8" piece of 304 Stainless (weighs about 65 lbs), which I don't need or have anything important enough to make out of it.

I want to sell it, but don't really know what to ask as I was given it years ago. I guess I can scrap it, but as it isn't crud, and I thought I could get more as metal stock to buy the stuff I need, but don't have a clue what to ask, expect to get or what's fair all around.

Any insights into it's value would be much appreciated...

I will open the bidding at one dollar :D

metalsdepot.com wants $769.60 + shipping. I guess I will raise my bid to $3.

Geez... That's over 10 bucks a pound !.... I'd be glad to get 1/3 of that and would be glad to. ... but at 3.00 mmmm I might have to hold out. Someone told me scrap value is around 1.00 a pound, but don't know for sure.....

Was at my buddy's fab shop today cutting some parts on his CNC Plasma (Messer 10'x30' bed, Hypertherm 260Amp Cutter) and he showed me some 3/8" 316 SS sheets (8'x30') that he just got in and will roll for a vat at a nearby paper mill. $30,000 for three sheets. Told him I'd have an armed guard watching them after hours. Said he wasn't worried, that if someone could pick them up and cart them off, "He wasn't going to try to stop them.":)

By the way, a trip by his dumpster was very productive. Got some nice plate and channel. Came home with the trailer at least 1000# heavier than when I left.
