Hello... I'm looking for a product that maybe someone can direct me toward if it exists.
Basically, I need to find a flip-up brazing / plasma 2"x 4" headgear mounted goggle for brazing / plasma cutting that I can put a #5 shade in. Flip up easily, quality stuff and worn over glasses is a must.. strap-held googles don't work well for me. I've seen older stuff that had a mounting to allow a goggle to adapt to a ratching headgear harness, but so far can't find who (if still) makes/supplies them.
Thanks....

AHS437:
If you have not considered these, give them a look - Marquette Quick Lift Goggles. I think the MQT-51103. Spring loaded telescopic arms and ratchet headgear. They run about $40.00. They worked better for me over glasses (bifocals) than any other goggles that I have used.

Thanks... I think Marquette may be a defunt company... Found something at "Aircraft Spruce" supply company, but not impressed. The search continues.

They are still being made, or at the least marketed. Try this link. No pictures, but at least the item is listed. Might be able to learn more from the company.

Thanks for the input.... Local shop called me back and said they found one in stock for a long time at another store... $29 Ordered and waiting delivery. They're apparently not popular... hope I don't find out there's a good reason why they don't sell well.... I'm nearsighted and want to mount a magnifier inside for plasma cutting...

I've used a pair of those in the past for Oxy-Acet. cutting but didn't care for them. "My" complaint is they didn't fit tight enough against my face if you were cutting something out of position. The quality of the unit was just fine but I prefer the same type goggle but with elastic band. That type of goggle should work just fine for a gas welding/brazing operation though.

Anyone else tried those Jackson head gear type goggles for O/A welding? I know Kent White at TMTechnologies recommends them. I wear glasses and don't find the cheap Lincoln ones they sell at Home Depot to be comfortable at all. This seems to be about the price I have seen on the Jacksons.

Sorry. The Pink Goggles threw me off!!:p
I can't remember whether the ones Kent is wearing in the video I bought from him on Aluminum O/A welding are green or brown, but they are definitely not the pink ones lol. Everything looks green though that TM2000 lens he developed anyway.

I wore them for years, till I got trifocals...can't use 'em with bi or tri focals.

Selstrom makes a nice face shield with flip down visor for plasma cutting.
The flip down visor is available in shade 5,6, or 8.
Works really nice.
Same shield as Hypertherm sells as a plasma shield. Think Selstrom makes them for Hypertherm. Mine ran about $35.

I do wear bifocals, but have a pair of reading only lenses in an old frame that I can wear when welding. The flip down full face visors are nice, but I want something that will allow me to put in a lens for aluminum welding. I guess I could just get another regular welding hood with replaceable lens, but the goggles are cooler.

Throw the shade 5 lense into a welding helmet; that's what I do. :D
