I have been using a Smith set bought at National Welders here in NC. I will eventually have to return the tank set-up soon :( So I need to go buy my own set and tanks. Advice for a noob please.

If you bought it, why do you have to return it? Or, do you mean you'll be out of gas soon?

If you liked the way the Smith worked for you, it would seem obvious what the choice should be.

If you're asking what you should replace the small tanks with, that depends on what your need are. I've found that a 150 cubic foot oxygen cylinder coupled with a #4 (126 ft³ fill) serves my needs, but I don't do much rosebud work. I'd want a 330 ft³ acetylene tank minimum if I were going to do a lot of heating.

I bought the Smith Pro Cut today from Machine and Welding Supplyfor $186 and a rosebun tip for another $40. Now I need the tanks. Basically the set I am using is going back the the origional owner. I have been searching for some tanks. Found some used ones for sale but am afraid that they can't be filled. I was told that the large industrial sized tanks are lease only and must have walked off a job. Localy to buy a set of tanks is $370 filled, or lease the large ones at $80 per year.
