just picked up an old quincy 60 gallon air compressor(the tank is 1/4" plate and the ends are even thicker!)....weighs close to 400 lbs....it runs just fine with the newer motor but the compressor leaks(needs new gaskets)....I'll do some research later but does anybody know what kind of gasket material is best suited for the heat and pressure?.....any input will be appreciated......thanx...im

Quincy is a good brand, and I'll bet a Quincy dealer can get you the proper gaskets, already cut to go!:)

Contact a dealer and buy the gasket set you need. Easier, and probably cheaper, given that if the gaskets are done wrong, you may damage the machine. Last one I did (15HP four cyl), the gaskets came in at about $100 for a full set (heads, insp port, oil pump mount, etc.)

If you insist on doing them yourself, I think the last set I did was fibre, but a deaer will be able to tell you for sure. Thickness? measure the existing one (remove a little at th edge and measure between the head and block with a caliper)

it is also a good idea to get a decent inspection of the iside of the tank.

I paid 120.00 to have mine acid washed and sealed. it is money well spent on iron of that quality
