Hi All!

I'm making the plunge and Home depot has everything on their website at 10 percent off until 04-14-08. Plus free shipping. If you can't view them, one is the standard Jet 5 x 6 with legs for $318 before the discount. The other is the Jet 5 x 6 with the swivel head and a cabinet base for $485 before the discount. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Terry

I didn't know Home Depot carries Jet.

There are times when I think I would love to have a swivel bandsaw for the miter cuts but in reality I don't do all that many miter cuts. It still would be nice though.

If you have the room and money for the swivel one, and do enough miter cuts, then I would do it. It does have a nicer stand and that should be worth something.

I'd be getting the swivel in a heartbeat. The first miter cut you do without it, you'll regret it.

Another vote for the swivel head.

I wouldn't give mine up, except for a bigger one. Ohh, wait, I Am giving it up for a bigger one. HydMech DM-10 :D

I have the HVBS 56. Great saw, but the go-roundy one would be a distinct improvement in my shop!

Go for the swivel!:D

Well, I may as well vote for the swivel head, too. You can do okay with the regular hor/vert bandsaw, but if you have the money and the inclination, the swivel saw is the way to go!

I think you guys talked me into what I already knew. The base on the swivel saw looks much sturdier plus it allows for some storage. Thanks for the advice. So much for the 10 percent savings. The Home Depot web site charges sales tax no matter where you order from. They say it's protocol because they have retail stores in every state, yet they don't carry the saw in any of them. Still, it's the best price I could find. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again gentlemen!
