I am new to this site, So far I have found it very informative and helpful. I am not a full time welder but I do weld at work often. I work for a large gov't contractor as a Mechanical technician. Since I am the only person in the group with any welding experience or certs the duty falls to me. I sure don't know evrything and I am looking forward to picking the brains of evryone willing to let me.

Thanks
Troytech

Welcome to the forum Troy, this is a wealth of information for all things welding...glad to have you aboard. There is no such thing as a dumb question, so ask anything, or add to the discussion with your own experience...we also have some fun, too. :D

Well Mack
I do all kinds of mechanical work for them. I weld, and am a pretty fair machinist. I work in the stockpile stewardship program for DOE. The great thing about my job is that i will be making a part on a Lathe or Milling machine
and a half hour later I have that part on my weld bench finishing it up. Sometimes i get to travel to remote locations to field the diagnostic equipment that I build.
