I have been away from my welder for quite some time. The other day I welded a small job and my welds looked terrible.
Usually I can run a decent bead. Not this time.
I was using my Hobart ac dc xl with 6011 rod.
My welds humped up into big globs.
Is that a sign of too much heat or not enough?.
I have a chart taped to the top of my welder that shows rod size and heat range but for some reason I did not do well that day.
I need to practice more as i`m thinking of a larger project.
thanks.

If you had it down before, it'll come back! I have that same problem when I don't weld for a few months.

Recently, I attneded a gathering of the brethren where wleding was part of the fun, and I had a tough time with a MIG bead!

Do not despair! Burn a few rods on some coupons - you'll be back in trim.
