Newbie to the forum although I have been lurking for awhile.:D

I am a novice welder and have used a Lincoln 225AC stick welder and a cheapie HF dual mig 131 for 10 years or so. Just sold those two welders and decided to dive in a little deeper and order the refurbed HH187 from toolking. Hopefully, I'll enjoy the new toy. It should be a huge step-up from the HF mig which never performed great IMO. The Lincoln stick welder was great but I believe the HH187 will do most everything I need it to and cover all but the thickest material the Lincoln 225 would weld.

I am actually more of a serious wood worker with a fully equipped wood shop. So, although I tinker with metal my true love is wood.

Anyhow hi and thanks for the great board. I ordered the HH187 based off of the reviews on this board!:D

Welcome to the forum, this is a wealth of information for all things welding...glad to have you aboard. There is no such thing as a dumb question, so ask anything, or add to the discussion with your own experience...we also have some fun, too. :D
Be careful welding in a wood shop, ...wood dust is highly flammable.

Hey there,
Welcome to the Board. Ditto what Rocky said. There are a lot of us wood butchers here who do both. Easiest and safest thing to do is to move your welding out to the pad in front of the garage. Don't forget to have a charged hose and a fire ext. and a 5 gallon pail of water around when welding no matter where you're welding.

Thanks for the advice. I do most of my welding outside just for the reasons you have mentioned. I am set-up with complete dust collection system in my shop so, the risk is pretty minimal but better to be safe than sorry. ;)

Thanks EZ, always nice to know where people are from. I'm new here as well, I'm an old/new guy when it comes to auto repair (was away from it awhile) now i'm back doing a frame off resto on an 87 Buick GN. (some welding required) this place is great.

Welcome aboard. We like metal, but remember "wood is good". The best is when you can combine the two, such as in a fine firearm or a good tool.

Not sure if it has been posted ToolKing has a $10 off $300 or more coupon if anyone is interested it is TKCOUPON10 I believe it expires the end of the month. It worked fine when I ordered the refurbed HH187 over the weekend. I know it isn't much but will buy you a couple cheeseburgers.
