View Full Version : Why you drain the air tank.
Cut my old air compressor tank in half.
I'm glad this forum convinced me to change it out!!!! 1/8" walls on a "125 psi class", 5gal tank.
Cut was interesting too .... oops! Dinner bell just rang .... more later.

RockyD,
Some while back, someone suggested a reciprocating saw for this task. Sooo I HAD to buy one. A middle speed worked best: too slow gave lots of kick back; too fast and the blade did not dig in. Once I got the speed, it cut amazingly fast.
Weld stress in the end plugs made the halves squeeze together. That bound up the saw blade until I got the right wedge arrangements.
Did it all with one Milwalkee blade. Amazed it did not snap while I was learning and with the binding. It cut thru 4 seam welds and two 3/4" pipe plugs and fittings in the ends.
