If none of you pipe welders are going to post some of your gorgeous pipe welds, guess an old structural hand will have to embarrass himself! :o:o

Please don’t be too hard on me, I know I wouldn’t make a pimple on a pipe welders beeeehind!:p:D

Thank you Sir! ;)
But the root would never pass the visual! :(:o

Everything is from bottom to top, 5-G.
Gravity sure hurts that open root doesn’t it!
Wonder if I capped the ends and filled the pipe with air? :D

All the pressure work we do is tig root or backgouged if need be. We still have to requalify with 6010 root every two years. It's time for me to start practicing. This is a 4" schd. 80 in the 6G. I could live with it except for the 'lack of fusion' as shown in the last two pics.....

If your asking about my batch of pics, they were uphand with 1/8" 6010, 1/8" land and gap and 3/4" tacks at 3,6,9,and 12 o'clock. I've never done a downhill open root procedure.

That's a fine example of a 6010 cap. Can't remember the last time I did one on pipe though. Everything I've run across is finished with low-hi.

cheers old sparks,
iv not used 6010 a great deal ,but they seem to be very versitile rods.
iv not tried them on any structural work yet,im guessing they will good for areas that are rusty or cant be ground clean.
