not really! but my wife would like me to try and build something very close to this:

anyone have a good eye for how thick the material is? 3/16? also, i am assuming i need a bender to make something like this. is this true, and if so, what would be a good choice for a bender? thanks.

Regardless of the make, you are going to want the Scroller Attachment. My Harbor Freight does great (although I never use it...not into scrolls), but I have never done 3/16" with it.:)

Depends on how accurate and how consistent you want it. If you have some pipe the right diameter - you can cut a slot in it and insert the end of your bar stock and bend by hand to make the curls on the end. Looks like 1 1/4 x 3/16 and it is not that hard to bend by hand. I'd make a wood form for the main sleigh body to bend those.
Really a question of whether you think her need for the wood rack is sufficient to justify a new tool and if you can forsee a future need for one :D Bender with Scroll attachment will make it a lot easier - but you can do it without.

I don't think a scroll attachment will scroll over 1" Flat stock at least one that is affordable:D
SO Scroll bender attachment is $118.00 Rated for 1" x 3/16"
and anther 49.00 for the bench top mount for it.
:)
I have a couple Pipe bending jigs - instead of making a slot I just weld a Stop Tab
