Finally after a lot of deliberation, I ordered a Thermal Dynamics TD39 plasma cutter today from Cyber-Weld. After my disasterous experience with an off brand, non USA made, and worst offense yet, of not trying before buying plasma cutter, I am counting on this one to be a good choice.

I had a TD Cutmaster 38, Your 39 must be a newer version (?). It was and is a great Plasma Cutter. The kerf is the finest of all the brands, I believe, and it would start through rust and paint, whereas my Riland needs to have the start "spot" hit with the flapper. You made a good choice, and Cyberweld has lots of fans here! (I bought mine from Indiana Oxygen).:)

Good choice! I've got a TD38, bought it this time last year. I think it's the best value in a small cutter out there. You will love it!

I would have liked to have bought my TD39 from Indy Oxy, but shelling out another 6% for the govenor sorta hurts so I thought I would give Cyber-welder a shot this time around. Both welding shops come highly recommended however.

The sub title says it all!!! Cyber-Weld notified me that the unit was shipped via fed-ex ground on the 22th and guess what appeared on my door step on the 24th? Not bad only two days 1/2 way across the country. CW, you got a real supporter out here!!
I couldn't play with it on Friday and finally on Saturday I had to first make up an extension cord with the proper plugs and sockets fortunately, I had 20ft of 12ga 3 wire cord and after a little while, I was good to go.
First it was 1/8" mild steel, next came some 1/4", after digesting that, I went for some 5/16, then 3/8 and finally 1/2" The TD39 kept chewing its way with ease on every piece. I think it may have been hungry enough to try 5/8" but I didn't have any laying around.
It is a real pleasure to use this plasma cutter. The instruction book is well laid out and quite concise in their instructions. The machine also is very straight forward. Hook up a clean air supply, set it for 65psi via the internal regulator, plug it into 120 or 220, what ever one you may have as the machine will sense the voltage anyway and you are ready.
I am very pleased with the Thermal Dynamics TD-39 Plasma Cutter and feel that this is one of the better choices available for under $1000. Out of the box, this is a no hassle easy to use, made in America piece of equipment which not only looks like a quality tool but is indeed one!! Based on my experience here, I just might take a serious look at your TIG equipment real soon.
