For instance say 1/16 you would have a certain setting (low) and for 3/8 you would have a real high setting.So my question is at what setting would you have it at if you were welding the 1/16th piece to the 3/8 piece?

Start on the thicker section and wash over to the thinner piece.

When you are mating 2 pieces together especially both laying flat you wanna start walk it across from one piece to the other side to side, your wire speed should be slowed somewhat. remember side to side not round and round, just evenly side to side until you get it welded in. This way is how ive always done it, it burns in alot better then just straight down between the 2, yea you can speed the wire feed up and make a fast back into, fast, repeat and make a small neat weld. But......
