I just bought a old hobart welder. I need to find out if it is a 6 or 12 volt ignition system. The only numbers I have are off the tag on the engine. Model#IND30,Type117,Serial#18942. The other question I have is it pos.or neg. grond? can someone help me?

A stamp on your engine generator/field coil or starter will tel you if it's a 12 or 6 vdc system, after that just follow the existing wires around to figure out the polarity. You may simply through in a couple of side view pictures, that tells us alot about the machine.
