Maybe I'm wrong, but the control layout and the case construction, except for the contours of the front panel, look similar to the SP135. Could it be a rebadged version of that? Even if it is, I think I'd prefer the real deal, at least for warranty purposes. Still, it sure looks better than the things at that other discount tool seller.

With the wire spool, drive motor, and gun on righthand side of case it sure looks like a Lincoln product to me.

That machine is made in china. It also has some very good reviews. (4.6 out of 5 stars.)

And an HH140 is about $130 more than the China machine and has gotten RAVE reviews here...plus its made in the US of A...:D

The guy that wants to weld only once in a while, will buy the chinese machine.

....and kick himself when he can't even give it away to buy a HH140.....the machine isn't as bad as some I have seen...ie harbor freight.......I think I'd buy a Clarke first....

You'd be amazed at what people will buy. Actually I got what I wanted from the CH125 I sold. It lasted me several years until I could afford a bigger welder.

Was given the Chinese Northern 135 welder for Xmas last year.
For the price, you really can't beat it. If it works..that is. The first one I got was virtually destroyed upon arrival. case dented, lenses fell off the regulator, failed solder connectors on the gun wires (connectors were in the bottom of the box). Something like half and inch of the cheapest foam packing I have ever seen and the thinnest cardboard I have ever seen too. Not a good start!
Called Northern. They exchanged the unit no problem. The second one arrivved better, foam padding still destroyed, but no dents! Go to install the gun into the machine, the orings on the gun end connector were soft as sh*t like they were UV damaged or something. the female receiver on the machine had the SHARPEST edge and tore the orings to shreads installing the gun into the machine!
Now I am trying to make this work..I call northern to get new orings.. They don't sell them..just the entire gun..Fine..send me another gun. 2 friggin month wait to get it from China, as they don't stock them!
Northern, again, steps up and offers a refund, including shipping (which they almost never do). I DID order a Hobart 140 Handler from them in exchange, which itself had free shipping.
Un-friggin-real the quality of the Hobart - sooo much better. It was a pleasure to see in big letters on the top of the box - ANY PROBLEMS call us 800-------, Doublewalled cardboard, nicely padded. Fit and finish was stunnly awesome! Everything went together flawlessly. Far better value... AND MADE IN THE USA!
So it worked out in the end!

A friend of mine bought one, and he likes his a lot. He does odd jobs with it, nothing too serious. He uses flux core only. For what its worth....

I also noticed something on Northerns site.
My review I posted (not to dissimilar to what I wrote above) has not been posted. Apparently Northern is cherry picking the reviews to post. No wonder it has such a good review!
How funny is that!

I just recently upgraded from my weldpak 100 to the HH140 and I now look for reasons to weld things....got a loose bolt on that shelf in your garage? Hang on let me grab my welder :p Seriously, it is a super nice machine. While I was at NT I looked at the NT 135 welder and the fit and finish was poor. The sheet metal on the side door was very flimsy. I'd pony up the extra cash and get the HH140.

I'll second that. I was thinking..how bad could the NT135 be... I guess I found out! Just too bad they don't post negative or critical reviews like mine. The HH140 is a stunning machine..even though I haven't used it yet :)
I agree, the metal on the NT135 was far wimpier than anything else I have seen! The price difference between it and the HH140 doesn't make up for it
