new vs old plasma technology

Ready to buy a light duty plasma - hypotherm powermax30 or the older tech miller spectrum 375.

I've read much of the threads on plasma cutters but none invlove circuit board vs old tech transformer technology.

I'm wondering if the new stuff will last as long as the old, I've heard of replacing boards to solve problems with the new stuff. I know the heavier the stereo receiver the better it usually is, does this apply to plasma cutters?

Any thoughts?
