I'm getting ready to install a NEMA 6-50R receptacle for a 187 that I'm buying and after reading the instructions in the manual, I just need to confirm something.
It appears that the 6-50R has a place for a neutral wire but that this isn't needed because this is a straight 240 outlet and not 120/240. So I should just connect the two hot wires and the ground, leaving the neutral connector in the receptacle empty, right?
Thanks for the help. When it comes to wiring, I like to make absolutely sure I know what I'm doing...

There is no connection point for a Neutral on a 6-50R-
Did you get the correct receptacle?

The wiring book I have has a wiring diagram for a 120/240v range next to a picture of a 6-50R, making me assume it was a 3 wire+ground receptacle.
I'm feeling like I won't burn my house down now...

I use a range receptacle seen here with a 50' 4c8ga extension cord plugged into it. The cord is coiled up under the range. The range is used for pre-heat and powder coating.
I use a range cord & plug with a welding machine receptacle, as an adaptor for the welding machine.

I don't believe welders have a use for the white / neutral / grounded conductor, only the green/bare wire needs connected to the earth / metal grounding point. DO NOT tie the white and green together!! BG
