I am a novice welder and I have a stick mate 235 hobart ac/dc machine can anyone tell me the hobart high frequency box model number to use with this machine for tig welding aluminum .
I have looked on several web sites looking and do not know what I need .I am not going to be using this alot and only for thin aluminum like to fab aluminum tanks and such.
Thanks

You can use any HF box for your machine. Will need a TIG torch, consumables, Power cable adaptor, Argon gas and a Regulator-flometer. John

it will be a sinewave, and not the preferred squarewave. you can weld with it, but results may not be completely satisfactory todd
Adding the HF to any stick welder would give you the capability of welding with AC for tig BUT even for an experianced tig welder it would not be easy. You would not have a remote current control and would need to compensate for the change in heat buildup with travel speed alone and you would not be able to properly fill the crator (puddle) at the end of the weld.

The HF box that is meant for your welder is the best you can get. Use AC current on the aluminum. With a Lanthanum tungsten.

Face it. A HF box is a HF box, they all will work. Miller makes a goods one also. John
