I bought a Radnor Auto darking helmet on Wednesday. This is my first AD helmet. It is Solar powered with a Lithium battery back up to my understanding. It worked great for about 4 hours today in the shop, but then it would not lighten. It stayed dark like a regular helmet.
I let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours, and this seemed to help. Is this the problem? I would go read the manual that came with it, but I can't find it.

As I recall, my Miller said before use, to place it in direct bright sun for a minimum of 8 hours. Its been flawless since then, about three or four years ago. It also has a little "on/off" button inside, next to the lens, which I totally ignore, but perhaps yours has one of those.:)

I just started leaving it near the window where the cell got light and it was fine after that.

I have had a lot of helmets. Any solar powered helemt.
Do not put in a bag over night.
Place in a lighted spot for a couple of hours before use.
You may have heard this before but I was putting my 2 cents in.
I use a speedglas adflo
Jackson
Optrel
and about 7 more.
I use them all regularly.
Use ventilation. Its your lungs and health.
