Short time Welder, looking to pick up some new tricks. Owner of a Hobart Champion, and a Miller 180. Lots of good info here.

Anyone in the Opal Wyoming area?

Welcome. I hope you enjoy this forum, and find it as interesting and informative as I. There are a lot of people here that are eager to help with all kinds of welding matters.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I was just curious. There are so many welding trucks around here it's crazy. This has to be the pipeline capital of the world right now. There are trucks from all over the country. Texas definitly wins the number count.

Lived in Evanston from 80 to 85. Drilled wells all over that country working for Exeter Drilling Co. Went back in 93 and lived in Frontier for 3 months helping my Dad in the gas field east of Labarge. Moved here to get away from the winters down there. Welcome to the site.

I've had several calls to come back. Theres 30" lines going out of that country in all four directions. I think this boom will have to get along without me this time.

You moved to Alaska to get away from the winters down here?

I know, I have been to Alaska a few times and the coastal area's are pretty nice even in the winter. I lived in NE Montana, and this is not near as bad as the Artic Blasts out of Canada. Thanks for the Welcome, and I have always wanted to live where you do.
There is not a Motel to be found in this area. There is so much gas, and no where to put it.

I live on the coast. When I went down in 93 I got on the plane on Jan 8th, It was 41 degrees and raining hard. I flew into Salt Lake, got a car and drove to Kemmerer. When I got out of the car it was 42 below. I'd forgotten the feel of that. The winter of 92-93 set records in Big Piney.
Where did you live in Montana? I lived in Ronan for a couple years. Nice place, not much for jobs though.

Fort Peck. Nice Country, hunting and fishing was incredible, but it was a long **** way's to anywhere. No worse than where you are. The pipeline co that I was working for was talking of cutting staff, and this opportunity here came up and we took it.

The coldest I have ever seen, was -45 with a 40 mph wind. The heath kit weather station said the wind chill was 104 below. I had to work outside that day. Bundeled up like zombies, we could only stay outside about 10 minutes at a time.

It's funny here, alot of the contrators from the south have already drug up and headed home because of the cold, It's not even cold yet! 0 for a low, and a high in the 30's.

Small world. I've always said that Glasgow was the farthest place from anywhere on earth I've ever been. I used to have a good friend that used to come up fishing every couple years from Fort Peck. He passed away last year though.
