Howdy Howdy!

Just an FYI, home depot has dewalt grinders, 5" nice ones, in a two pack for this fall season priced at 99$ a set. This is a great deal, but I think they are an in/out inventory item for this fall only. I would snatch up a bunch myself, but I allready have more then I can carry at one time.

good luck Brian Lee

There's nothing really awesome about Dewalt, but that does sound like a good deal...the big question is...do they have paddle switches? Where you located?

I checked out the Dewalt grinders at HD..they have right-hander side switches, and they are 4.5" not 5". I don't like side switches, I'm used to paddle switches.

I am with Rocky on paddle switches. I was using the DW402 but had problems with reliability, they are very ergo friendly, like the handling. I went to Milwaukee but they don't handle as good.

My son already makes fun of me for having 3 grinders, but it doesn't seem to bother him when he comes over to use the equipment. Perhaps if my HF or NT grinders ever wear out

...but those ARE 9 Amp grinders! That's their big boy, I believe. I have five DeWalt grinders, and the 4.5's I have are 7.5 Amp (all from Costco or Sams), but my 5" is 12 Amp...which I seldom use because its so heavy, and my old elbows start to complain after using it for very long.:)

...The sale is only good through tomorrow, I noticed.

Last week I picked up 2 Ryobi 4.5" grinders for $40 in a 2-pack at my local HD in Maine. My father in law had just gotten a Ryobi 4" 6 months or so ago and likes it and I'm happy with my Ryobi mitre saw, so for $20 a grinder I thought it was a great deal. I'm very happy to join the ranks of multi-grinder ownership.

I bought a set of these back when they were on sale for $30 a pair. I wasnt to impressed at first and still not terribly impressed, but I have noticed they seem to be more quiet compared to some others I have. I like that. On the down side, they don't have a lot of power but it's sufficient.

after reading about it here, I realized I had some gift cards to HD, so I pulled them out, and got the grinder set. My old dewalt was 5 amp, what a change to 9 amp! Holy cow! I'm loving them. I've only got one out of the box so far, the other is tucked away until I can properly organize them all. I need to add another shelf to my tool cart in the garage, it will be just for grinders and grinder accessories/wheels/disks/etc.

Howdy Howdy!

I just wanna refresh the memory for the elders on guard use and so the newbies don't get any un-safe ideas... I gotta say though, as long as your buddy doesn't lose a finger, it's sure funny to see a puff of white powder from your grinder imediately after you tell your friend to put the guard back on... You would think it would be red!

However, there are times when I too remove guards. I use really thick gloves then. Usually for when I have a .045 cutting disc on it, and am in a real real tight spot where no other tool of mine will reasonably fit and still do the job.

good luck! brian Lee Sparkeee29

May I jump in here?

I was at HD and they had a Bosch 1375 4.5" 6amp on sale last week. It started off at 69.00 then went on sale as a sell off being the last one at 49.00, and I was looking at it and THOUGHT it was missing the backing nut so I convinced HD to discount it farther. I bought it for 35. + tax... I called Bosch and told them it was missing the backing nut, so they sent me out one and when I received it, it looked the same as the ones I had in the box... We looked it up on line in the parts break down and it showed the style with the two flat sides but they changed it out for the thread on style.

Boy did I look like an dumb *** talking to them and finding out I already had the right parts to start with....

All I can say is this one runs smoother and quiter compair to my de walts and miketas.

Hey,
First post here, been lurking for last few days.

Whats the advantage of having two grinders, other than leaving a cutting disk on one, and a grinding disk on the other?

One seems to work just fine for me now, cant understand you guys buying two packs of grinders..

If that works for you then I say stay with it.

I happen to like having one with a sanding disk, one with a wire brush and another with a grinding disk. Call me lazy, but I frequently need all three during the day for a project and don't want to change abrasives all day.

I have a cup brush, cutoff wheel, hard disk and sanding disk, on my four. I also like a paddle switch on my grinders...they act as a 'deadman' switch, so if the grinder flies out of your hand, you won't do the damage that a side switch lock-on type will.

I have got to admint that I don't like changing from disk to wire cup, to cut off. I need a few more myself. I will try the paddle switch on the next one.

I've been working on shelves for a scout trailer. Having 3 is really handy to not have to switch. The thing I hate the most is pulling the wire brush off. I seem to get stuck even when wearing gloves.

I have 3, a dewalt, makita, and Harborfreight $8 special. The HF runs very hot and makes a lot of noise.

Love those flapper wheels.

Is that HF one a blue one? I found the orange ones much better and just a few $ more.

I'm not the only one to bring home a new tool "on sale", to find one on the shelf, still in it's box?

Sears has the "Craftsman Professional 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder model# 26437 on sale for $60 dollars and I have a 10 dollar off coupon.

I tried it and it is OK but I am wondering if I should just wait a bit and save my tip money for a better one.

Three years I would have bought the Metabo grinder but relocating, getting marrried, and starting a business have slowed down my tool purchases:(
