Bought my 125 a couple months ago and immediatly converted to gas for auto body work. Question is, I want to try flux core wire. Besides changing polarity back to the way it originally was does anything have to be done with the gas solenoid? Is it ok if it switches on and of w/o the use of gas?
thanks

I don't see how it would hurt.

Thanks. I see there are nozzles intended for FC that are supposed to protect the gas outlet from spatter and restrict your vision less. Is they worth using?

The gas solenoid will operate no matter what. Don't worry a bit about it.
The FC nozzles are nice, but not mandatory by any means. Hobart didn't even offer them until recently. It'll make it easier to switch back to gas without having to clean the threads for the gas nozzle.

When I first started out, I used flux core exclusively. I found the flux core nozzle to be a great aid in seeing the wire and getting in close without grounding out the nozzle (they are smaller in diameter and you can actually see the wire coming out of the tip). They also protect your gas jets. They are worth the $6 they cost.

Same reasons I bought them for my rigs!!
