I'm assuming this is just TIG wire, but I am not sure. Its marked .047", and that's about it. I do know its magnetic, and is in 3' lengths. Any ideas?

It does appear to be TIG wire, but if the ID is gone, there is no way of knowing what it is. Some wires have the ID stamped on them in tiny letters, or have a color coded paint on one end.

Like others said, hobby wire. Like for landing gear for light model airplanes...Bob

Like the others said, sounds like piano wire. To be sure put on a pair of safety glasses, take two pliers, grab the wire with both leaving about a 1/4" space between them. Now try to bend the wire quickly. If it snaps in half its definitely piano wire. Uncrichie.
