My Hobart GR 303 is not building up amperage. Any suggestions besides the one that we both are just tooooo old?

Are you getting any Voltage at all. Had it worked recently? Anything changed? Just guessing but it could be a loose wire, bad connection, need "flashed", exciter could not be working, or a number of possibilities provide a little more information if you can.

The 303 had a flashing circuit built in. It takes the battery voltage when the key is in the start position and feeds it to the + slip ring in the main generator. There is a small board with a fuse on it behind the panel below the key. Check that fuse. Also the earlier models with the voltage control electronic board were notorious for failing boards. If you have 115v at the plugs the board is bad and if not then probably the flashing circuit is not working. I hope this helps
