Cobra/Henrob O/A torch kit

Hi,

Have any of you used the Cobra (now I believe it's marketed under the Henrob name) torch, which is commonly marketed at car shows and swap meets? It seems to be pretty impressive, especially in making fine cuts, as well as welding at low pressure. How does it stack up against any of the other standard torches?

Sorry Guys,

I tried the "site search" at the top of the tool bar (where it says HOBART) several times before posting my message, and it replied with no matches. I didn't realize there was another search link right below (on line with "WELD TALK"). I see now that that's the one I should have tried. Sorry to cause such regurgitation.

Don't take it the wrong way, jmmm... just wanted to point you toward a pretty thorough discussion base here on the subject of Henrobs. I can see how the "site search" would be confusing if you didn't see the separate forum search box, too. Welcome aboard.

As already posted, please don't take it the wrong way. It wasn't meant that way. We often get the same question here many many times, and its just easier to either point new people to an old post, or try as gently as we to point them to the search function. I can see your confusion though, since there are two search buttons.

Its well made, but nothing special. In fact the cutting can be done just as easily, and cleanly using the conventional cutting torch and the correct size tip. The low pressure bit is a GAG. A good aircraft size setup will do just as nice of a job, and weigh 1/6 what the henrob does, plus be able to get into tight places.

Although I don't enter the discussion very often, I've been checking this board quite regularly and have learned a ton of stuff from the members. I appreciate that very much.

Richard Finch, Author of Welder's Handbook says that it excels at cutting thin material (sheet metal, etc), and due to the way it works, creates less heat affected zones around the kerf, so less warpage on thin material.
