Thanks for the kind words.. not sure what I will do next year since I have won the sculpture div 3, 2, now 1st place for the past three years. I don't think I can compete with the "Canvas crew" for "Best of Show" . But it's fun making the stuff and I guess that's what is really important after all is said and done.

As others have said, great work Jim, and well deserving of the prize. Your work is always an inspiration to those of us who have ambitions of doing some art work in the future.

looks great jim, just remember its not about what color ribbon that someone hangs next to it. its really about the skills and the fun it was to accomplish such a exceptional piece of art. thats my opinion, anyone can buy a box of those big blue ribbons at the craft store for a few bucks. but not everyone can do what you can do. with your hands and a pile of what some people would call scap metal. just keep having fun with it , dont let the competition side of it ruin the experience. just my 4 cents

Too late Jim! If you weren't an artist before..... you are now. Save all those ribbons and press clippings, also any interview tapes. You may want to offer the piece for consideration for a show out of state or country for that matter. Having that type of documentation is a tremendous asset. It is ok to spend the 500 dollars. Peer acceptance of one's work is truly the ultimate satisfaction..... little coin here and there isn't too shabby either.
Thanks for sharing your success.
