I have a Snap On Mig Welder 15 years old. YA205A is the model #. Took it to job site and they had a power surge. I have replaced diodes, triac module, circuit board. Everything works but will not strike an Arc. Could it be the capacitor? I have checked them and I am getting a 10 reading on volt meter. Can anyone help with this problem????? THANKS

Most common thing (after a fuse) to go out on a power surge is an MOV (metal oxide varistor), but that's usually on the circuit board. In fact, it's usually the only thing on the circuit board that needs to be replaced.

I've gotten some good money replacing MOVs when service centers like to charge for all new circuit boards.

Check your OCV volts in AC and DC. What do you show?

Yes, we fixed a few things on boards for minimal cost also, in fact a couple on snappy machines but I dont remember all the details as its been a while.
