I was starting to think about buying a HH187. I have a Lincoln 100 right now and need a little extra power. Where is the best place and price to buy the 187?

eBay has legitimate dealers selling at their best price, usu. with free shipping. No sales tax if you pick one that's not in your state.

www.northerntool.com and www.toolking.com are also places to check. The latter has flat $8 shipping no matter what you order.

Also, watch for sales on them at Sears.com. I picked mine up during a 20% off sale. Even with the tax and shipping it was still about $40-50 cheaper than any other online price I've seen recently.

If you don't mind buying a refurb, Toolking has good prices. I believe they were like 519.00 + 8 dollar shipping..

I love the "where to..." questions when the OP doesn't have his location in his profile...

I'd talk to your LWS as they "may" take the Linc. in on trade.........that is if you are looking to get rid of it.......they could also be offering a package deal with tank hood etc......

Sorry, thought I had added location when I signed up on the forum. You guys answered what I was looking for anyway, toolking, ebay, tsc.... Thanks for the advice guys. I will probably keep my Lincoln for the portability.

Keep it, you might use 023 wire in it, add another bottle for it which acts as a spare. Its nice to have small wire however with a 187 it wont be as much of a factor as if your bigger machine was running 035. I can make do on most things with 030. Another reason to keep it is a LWS doesn't want it.

I completely agree. You can't have too many feeders.

I just picked up a reconditioned 187 from Tool King and am very pleased. After putting the item in my cart, removing it, and then placing it back in my cart, the price was only $499 + $8 shipping. The unit is "A" stock and appears to be BRAND NEW. I can find zero flaws on the machine and would never know it was reconditioned if it weren't for the small metal recon tag on the back. I should have the wiring for it finished today and can report back on its operating condition(which I expect to be flawless). I also called ToolKing a couple times about shipping confusion and they had excellent customer service. I would highly recommend purchasing the unit from them.

If you follow through, and get a HH 187, you'll discover quickly, that a HH 187 offers you way more then just a little extra power over your 100 amp Lincoln. The output range of voltage tap #3 on the HH 187 is roughly the top end on your Lincoln.
