i have recently started setting up my shop (small/home)custom motorcycle building
my question is with the price of gas botteles can i use argon for an all around gas i weld mostly steel but have an ocasional need for aluminun fabrication/repairs
i have a 175 handler mig set up:confused:

Sorry to say but you can not use 100% argon to weld Steel you have to use either a mix gas of 75% argon 25% Co2 or 100% Co2. Argon is used for Aluminum only.

Your doing custom motorcycle building with HH175 MIG welder?
I would really like to see pictures of what your building.

Trade it in for a TIG welder and you can use argon for everything. :cool:

TIG makes more sense building custom motorcycles than MIG because your dealing with small pieces and small welds. Custom motorcycles are about Looking Good in every detail and TIG makes pretty welds.

You need Square Wave AC TIG welder for welding aluminum.

The reply that tig was better suited for your job is right on the money. Better control, better looking welds, that will make your custom work even better.
