I had a 1940's Buffalo Iron Worker, I did a google search and found them in New York. I bought an owners manual with parts break down. I sold the machine with manual so I don't remember how to contact them. They said parts were still available.
Are you sure normal chucks and adapters won't fit it? MT(morse taper) is pretty standard.

Post the dimensions of the taper. If it was made in '64 there should be a good chance that a taper mount is still available for your model. I'd be betting it is a Jacobs taper, but Buffalo may have used a B & S taper back then. Either are available, although the B & S taper will run you more due to the lower production numbers nowadays.

What size press? Buffalo used, at least, several Jacobs tapers and also made larger Morse taper units. They may also have used Jarno or one of the many other taper specs-I have only sen Jacobs and Morse, but havn't used too many different Buffalo.

If you can get measurements of the diameter of the taper hole about 1/8" in and andout 1 1/8" in, then the taper can be figured.

Is there a key slot above the taper (across the quill) for knocking out tools? If not, probably not Morse.

I wish I could find a good industrial free drill press that only needed a couple hundred in parts...
