Rock:
I have seen some plans for a Brake press on the internet.
I have been wanting to build one for quite sometime now.
I would rather bend a piece of metal to form an angel than to weld up two peices of flat stock.
I would like to fabricate a brake press that will bend up to
1/8 inch metal.
Do you know where I might be able to get some plans to do this?

I dont have a dozer, but I did weld some spikes on my harrow to get depper soil penitration, and this worked great. I have a hh135 and it worked fine for this. I would not try to do real heavy welding with it, but worked fine for this project. Did not really use any plans.

I put about 7 additional spikes on the front part of the harrow, and with about a 75 degree angle to the spikes. With this setup get about an additional 2-3 inches, and it realy does a good ripping job of the hard pack soil. I welded the spikes to the pull bar for the harrow, and this worked well.

I was just learning how to weld, (true novice here) and thought that is would be good practice, which it was. I also have been making diff. things with horse shoes, with our horses we have plenty laying around, and there are all kinds of simple things to make out of them, so I can keep getting practice welding stuff.

i welded some teeth onto an old tractor loader bucket to make a more aggressive digger out of it. not very good welding for sure(i'm a raw novice) but i got it done and they are still in place. gonna give it a real workout this weekend. aside from my post about the BBQ pit, i am always looking for new projects. keep them ideas coming. be safe!

I made a hayrack for our horses and just used the one we had as a model for the 1 I made. I used the hh135 I have on 1/2 " rebar, and it worked realy well. I know that I did not get near the penitration to do a good job welding it with just a 110 volt machine, but since Iam just learning how to weld, I did more than 1 pass on each weld joint. No, I wont say how many! Any way, it is near bomb prof, and the horses have not broke it yet, and it cost me about 1/4 of what a cheap one would have cost if I bought retail, and believe me, they do not make the retail ones out of 1/2 inch rebar.

i just hit on a great project idea. i'm going to build a hay ring for round bales. i see them for sale at places like tractor supply company, but i wonder if i can make one for less than retail price? any ideas on this ?

Tim, there are plans for one in the Arc Welded Projects III book from Lincoln:eek: . It will bend 20 gauge steel up to 36" wide, but thicker metal if not full width. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.
